Chungking Express (1994) consists of two love stories told in sequence, each about a lovesick Hong Kong policeman mulling over his past relationships and look for new love.

"The fantastical emerges from the mundane”
This mantra was the basis of our concept. In Chungking Express, the characters meet incidentally, but the impact is profound. Their relationships develop based on small moments that could be perceived as trivial, but are rich in meaning for all of them. We recreated the snack shop where significant moments in the film occur and fill it with objects that are related to all four characters. Seemingly insignificant objects in the shop begin to float, break apart and suspend in mid air. The unexpected behavior creates a surprise and curiosity reinforcing the idea of the mundane to fantastical.

Chunking Express is renowned for its aesthetics well crafted by a Hong Kong film director Wong Kar-wai. We tried to encapsulate its saccharine yet sensual aesthetics into our work.
